THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN IS UNDERWAY

By Ed Randazzo

So here we are six days into the 2012 presidential election campaign and the list of Republican hopefuls will be pressured for clear decisions as soon as the ball drops in Times Square ushering in 2011. And you thought you would get a political rest……….not hardly.

Indiana Congressman Mike Pence in an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” said he was “intent on taking the coming weeks to really prayerfully consider that, to wait on the Lord, to seek counsel. And after the first of the year, we’ll make a decision.” I like him, do you?

Minnesota’s Governor Tim Pawlenty has been testing the waters for some  time now. He told CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday “I’ll decide (on that) early next year”.

South Dakota’s Senator John Thune is in the mix, having said he was considering a run.

Did I hear Marco Rubio’s name? How about New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie or South Carolina’s Senator Jim DeMint (I sure do like him too).

Will we hear from Newt Gingrich soon?

What names are going through your head? Did I leave out your fave?

    Joillee & Ind.,
Both Newt and Huckabee gave presentations at the Values voter Summit… you would enjoy them. They were both very good. You can see them on the link I provided if you are interested.

I like Gingrich, and hope he will run. I met him in Rapid City and listened to him speak. He specifically discussed freedom of religion, the freedom to” worship freely in your Mosque, Synagogue or Church,” as a cornerstone of American freedoms. I think he’s a well balanced individual, without any religious agendas. I would definitely consider voting for him.

Pence is out, he’s obviously still playing the “God Party” card. Rubio is interesting, time will tell. Pawlenty isn’t a contender. Thune would be better than either of these three. Although he’s a religious man he’s able to separate his faith and politics. At this point I would have to say President Obama is the clear favorite to win re-election. I’m not sure I’d vote for him, I voted for McCain, but we’ll see how he does in the next two years. I’d sure like to seen and Independent with enough cash to run with the big boys emerge from the field.

    Great post Ed,
Jim DeMint is someone who REALLY has my attention, and Mike Pence is another great prospect!!!
Anyone who has an interest in listening to either of these, as well as many other Presidential prospects can watch them as seen at the Values Voter Summit in Washington DC (also seen at the Christian Voter Conference in Sioux Falls and Rapid City).

The fact anyone “has your attention” probably serves as a red flag for mainstream America.
