Will Hurricane Sandy Relief Payments Be Cocooned in Political Correctness?
Can we trust the hyper-liberal Northeast and Feds in doling out Hurricane Sandy relief cash? Earlier periods in the US would have seen no problem in helping victims and the down-and-out. America was Christianized from top to bottom. Families were the first line of defense, then the churches stepped in.
Charities were church-sponsored. Government was never the provider, as such, but helped out with large-scale projects. Everyone was taken care of–just enough to move forward, but not to come out “way ahead” of where they were.
The nation-destroying problem today is a political correctness which denies challenge or even scrutiny whenever “preferred” victims are involved. So can we trust the honesty of the relief payments that the Northeast will be asking for? Being one of the most liberal areas in the world, the political Northeast remains the outspoken advocate of excessive welfare, wealth redistribution, and social engineering.
It’s not just the local and state machines that have the most clout these days, but the Feds. The automatic voting bloc of “taken care of” dependents is now a mindless machine that exchanges votes for welfare candy. Hurricane Sandy will reward politicians of both parties who bring in the most lucrative settlements.
After all, it’s taxpayer money from all over the country. Porkmeister Chris Christie is one of many loud, angry public officials who know how to secure their careers. Abandoning Romney makes good sense in retrospect (cartoon above).
It’s like grade inflation in colleges, bring in a lot more money than is deserved, and votes will follow for years to come. No reason to even be frugal and fiscally responsible, when excess demand will be shielded by political correctness.
America is at the worst time in its history to guard against fraud. The New York Times article “Federal Relief Costs Likely to Be Big, and Contested” suggests that the problem is almost unchecked: “Lawmakers and federal officials say they are determined to guard against fraud, which has marred past recovery efforts. Mispayments and fraud were estimated to cost at least $600 million in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.”
But deliberate fraud by individuals may not be the biggest problem. America has liberal power brokers ensconced in the highest levels: government, education, and the media. Thanks to political correctness and demagoguery, their authoritarian controls rival that of Nazi Germany, though in different guise today to elude obvious parallels.
Are there even any independent conservatives still left in America who can be watchdogs of Hurricane Sandy relief payments to make sure the Northeast doesn’t glut itself with excess. The money should go to those who really need it.
