OK, so nobody is perfect!
So, let’s not bash the Legislator, but take a look at this off-the-charts tax increase!! And then let the Senator know we would like him to kill this bill asap!
Today, if you sell your home, the state will collect a transfer tax from you. Yes, it’s a tax… even CALLED a tax, not a fee. You will pay $1.00 per thousand as a tax when you sell your home or any other real estate. That means if your home sells for $200,000 you will pay the state a tax of $200.00.
State Senator Tim Begalka has introduced a bill that would increase that tax tenfold. Read the bill HERE.
Your NEW tax would be $2,000.00.
What should you do? Contact Senator Begalka and ask him to kill this bill!
South Dakota property owners do NOT need a TEN FOLD tax increase when they sell their property.
