I was a high profile conservative when I ran for political office in 1978. Having won my seat I was noticed of audit and they intended to pull me out of the first day of the legislative session. After doing a three year fishing expedition they ended up owing me money. I had insisted on tape recorded audit and finally forced it so they could not invent something as agents often do.
Other conservatives who have sought political office have had the same experience. Seems things are all the same 35 years later.
