Mainstream Media’s Three Types of Deranged Killer Coverage
National television news programs are almost indistinguishable. ABC, CBS, NBC and others seem to draw from the same script, with almost identical topics and opinions each evening. Deranged killers like Adam Lanza are played up because liberal themes like stricter gun control and beefing up mental health funding are easy to evoke. Personality profiles of young killers are researched exhaustively and sympathetically, with skulking losers catapulted to celebrity status overnight, certainly catching the eye of would-be copycats.
The most beloved by the mainstream media are wacko misfits like Frazier Glenn Cross who can be made to smear, however ludicrously, all of those not aligned with the liberal-left axis. Cross is a jackpot target with associations to the vilest of the vile, the most hated of haters. Conservatives are forced into the same cesspool and run the same shameful gauntlet. Let them squirm.
There is no escape or defense, even for Christians and lovers of classical music, presumably now caught up in the ill-fitting hate nexus. When CNN researched Cross’s imagined funeral, they found that “The music would include ‘The Old Rugged Cross,’ the venerable Christian hymn, and ‘Ride of the Valkyries,’ an opera piece appropriated for Nazi propaganda.” Great news for the Southern Poverty Law Center and the American Civil Liberties Union, to be sure–now cast as sanitized think-tanks for the media.
The third type of deranged-killer coverage can be seen in the treatment of baby-killler Megan Huntsman where only the barest facts have come to the fore days after the remains of seven babies were found in her garage (photo). Why no personal research into this “mom” whose postpartum killings bear a resemblance to the convenience abortions of young women who want lots of sex with various men but little of the moral baggage?
Had Huntsman been to Planned Parenthood rallies which could provide detractors with prove positive or cause-and-effect innuendos and associations? Is there no neighbor or erstwhile friend who had overheard her sanctimoniously mention a woman’s right to her own body and reproductive processes? Come to think of it, seven babies in ten years means that she was no friend to contraception, the escape of others who seek unfettered personal license.
