Protecting Children: Parents More Responsible Than Government
It happened yesterday in Florida when a father interrupted the sexual abuse of his 10 year old son. He did what responsible fathers have always done: he instinctively punished the assailant before calling 911. “He is nice and knocked out on the floor for you,” the father told the 911 dispatcher. “I drug him out to the living room.” When the dispatcher asked if any weapons were involved, the father said yes, “my foot and my fist.”
As reported, Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood didn’t press charges: “Dad was acting like a dad. I don’t see anything we should charge the dad with,” he said, “You have an 18-year-old who has clearly picked his target, groomed his target and had sex with the victim multiple times.”
All of Creation has some form of self-defense built in, doesn’t it? Parents have always been the first line of defense for their families. Only humans seem craven enough to believe that the government alone should by solely responsible for protecting everyone.
The Florida father actually did contact the government via 911, so his legal entanglements might be just starting. Government bureaucrats and lawyers will rush forward to justify their careers and legal fees. The victims will be robbed and assailed many times over in the process. The criminal may well evoke lots of support from armchair sympathizers, then feel justified in repeating similar offenses.
The photo uses caricature and overstatement to announce that our self-serving legal system won’t block millions of years of painstakingly acquired natural order.
