The world is in turmoil.
What are you doing to make it a better place?
That’s a question I ask myself. Sometimes I have to readjust my priorities and refocus.
Yesterday was a day when the reality of my shortcomings got my attention. My attitude about a life situation needs adjustment. It’s certainly not my only shortcoming, but the one I will be praying about for now.
If we are serious about changing the world (for the better) there is only one place to start. Our lives have a huge impact on others. If you have seen the ripples on a pond, you have a picture of your influence on other people. The “splash” your life makes touches others in ways you will never know on this earth.
It is a puzzle why some people in positions of significant authority use their influence in a negative way. One of my greatest personal disappointments is in the sphere of politics. It seems like that field of endeavor brings out the worst in some people. I have cultivated some enemies by resisting the class of political leaders who don’t represent the values that are important to our country. The ultimate impact of those efforts seem small when I consider the need for change that still exists.
All hope is not lost. Regardless of your station in life, you have the power to change the world, one life at a time. Scripture tells us the Jesus “went about doing good”. Everyone you meet has a need. You can make a difference that could turn their life completely around. But along the way, you might discover the world you need to change is your own. A small attitude adjustment could make all the difference for you… and everyone you meet.
Changing the world might require some changes at home.
