You can say whatever you want in America…
As long as you are politically correct. Even then, mob rule seems to be redefining free speech. If you do not embrace the far left radical agenda, you are in danger of being silenced… one way or another.
This young woman, a Trump supporter, was assaulted by a large mob of people who threw eggs and forced her to retreat into a building. Is this what we have come to? It would seem.
Civil discourse is becoming less common. We might ask why. I think the answer lies in the simple truth that we have become a much different America than the one I grew up in. As a general rule, anyone who resists a left-leaning theology is subject to being disrespected and assaulted, verbally or physically. It is true that civility has been abandoned by some on both sides of the political spectrum, but when was the last time you saw a group of conservative Christians behaving this way toward someone with whom they disagree?
This scene is reminiscent of a story from the book of Genesis:
19 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
The behavior of these modern day “protesters” is disgustingly similar to the mob that assaulted Lot’s guests.
Will free speech survive in America?
