Electromagnetic Pulse is a term most people are unfamiliar with.
It’s a term we SHOULD be talking about, and a threat we should be preparing for.
An EMP can be caused by a nuclear (or non-nuclear) explosion in the atmosphere. Such an event could literally fry our electrical grid and leave our country without transportation, water to major populations and communication. Another challenge would be the delivery of food. It was alarming to me to hear that our country only has a 30 day supply of food on hand, and that much of that would begin to spoil immediately without electricity. One can only imagine the terror of a nation without food and water.
A terrorist attack on the electric grid that causes a nationwide blackout lasting one year could kill up to 90 percent of the American people by starvation and societal collapse, according to the Congressional EMP Commission.

There is no shortage of enemies who have both the motivation and the capability to launch such an attack. In response to the President and Congress NOT acting to protect us from this danger, a few states have begun to take action on their own. Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, Executive Director of the EMP Task Force on National and Homeland Security says it would take $50-60 Billion dollars to put protections in place. Even though that’s a lot of money, it is only a drop in the bucket compared to the total spending for our government.
You might ask, “Why isn’t Congress taking action on this issue?” Good question. Maybe they are just too busy with important things… like their next election.
EMP is real. The threat is real. We are unprepared.
