Do you ever feel like you have no purpose?
A friend asked me this question yesterday. He has accomplished success in life, and also seen personal failures. Now he searches for meaning.
Its a malady common to man. It pushes some to achieve “greater” things, while it drives others to suicide in despair.
My answer to his question was “Yes.” Life has way of searching our hearts and motivating us to pursue meaning. That is a motivation placed within us by God. It’s a good thing. If our search is an honest one, we will discover our own insignificance and complete dependence on God. It is there that we find real peace and fulfillment.
If you are a “seeker”, there are some tools to help you along your way. The best one is the Bible. Someone once said, “I thought I was reading the Bible. Then I discovered it was reading me.” How true.
So, what is your great purpose in life? The wisest man ever to live (King Solomon) gives it to us plainly in Ecclesiastes 11:13. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
Let God sort out the rest of it.
