Everyone deserves a dignified funeral.
Unfortunately, not everyone gets one.
Let me tell you why this subject is the focus of my attention today.
I woke in the early morning hours this morning from a very vivid dream. In this dream I was in a motel room getting ready to check out. The housekeeping crew of three women had come to clean my room. They brought with them a cardboard box and said, “Here is your baby”. It was the body of a baby girl which had been aborted and mistakenly “given” to me. Her beautiful face was perfectly formed. She seemed perfect in every way. What was I to do??
The only choice I had was to give this baby a funeral.
I chose a name, Jennifer Marie. I began making preparations for her funeral. It was about that time that I woke from my dream with many questions. Where should the funeral service take place? What about Jennifer’s LAST name? Should I giver her MY last name? Who should speak at her funeral? Where should I go to choose her casket? So many questions.
This dream left me disturbed about the fate of children whose lives are taken by abortion. Very few, if any are given a respectful funeral. They are simply destroyed (or sold, piece by piece) without recognition of their lives. They deserve better.
This troubling dream left me with a haunting challenge… how can I provide a funeral for Jennifer? Obviously, this was just a dream. No one has “given” me this precious little baby. If you or someone you know has had the misfortune of losing a baby to abortion, and would like to give them a respectful funeral, please contact me. I will find a way to provide a dignified and respectful service.
