Thinking about Immigration and Refugees Swings Right

A Syrian man who once survived a chemical attack within his own country has only praise for the moral correctness of US President Donald Trump in militarily confronting the Assad regime.  “What you did was amazing…a powerful message of hope,” Kassem Eid told an apparently disgruntled CNN reporter who had sought to bait him with a Hillary Clinton speech segment casting Trump as anti-immigrant and anti-Syrian.

Eid believes survivors should never become refugees, forced to leave the country of their birth and heritage.  “If you really care, help us stay in our own country,” he says, by investing in whatever it takes to establish protective safe zones right at home.  “We don’t want to come to the United States.  We don’t want to become refugees.”  This is a form of national pride and patriotism that President Trump can respect. Thinking about immigration and refugees has begun to swing to the right.
