“Which political party is better at managing taxpayer dollars? The latest ranking of states’ fiscal condition offers an unequivocal answer,” reports IBD in “What Do The Worst-Run States Have In Common? They’re Run By Tax-And-Spend Democrats.” South Dakota is on top. Neighboring Wyoming, Nebraska, and Montana are also in the Top 10 in terms of the “five measures of their financial condition: cash solvency, budget solvency, the ability to meet long-term spending commitments, state spending and taxes as a share of personal income, and unfunded pension liabilities and debt.”
The bottom Worst 10 are run by wealthy business Democrats, in Northeast states like Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, but also Democratic Party strongholds like California and Illinois. It boils down to taxpayer respect, says IBD. Those at the top tend to have “plenty of cash on hand, with few “long-term liabilities, and lower-than-average taxes and spending as a share of income.” They also “have kept their pension liabilities low” and “tend not to spend more than they take in.”
With Donald Trump as an economic catalyst unparalleled in US history, it is certain that GOP-run states will continue to lead the country to even greater prosperity. Woe to the less wealthy in Democratic-controlled states, though increased welfare-and-debt spending will take away the smart, at least for now.
