A More Perfect Candidate For President

Donald Trump’s imperfections are showing.

That bothers some people, to the point they are excessive in their criticism.  CERTAINLY, it is fair to disagree with a President.  It’s fair to challenge him/her on issues.  Freedom demands it.  I have not issue with those people.  I am among those who don’t agree with everything President Trump says or does.

In the process of disagreeing or confronting, however, we would do well to consider the tone of our objections.  Some Trump-objectors are so blinded by their disapproval that they can’t see anything except his imperfections.

We would do well to consider the alternatives.  Who, in the field of Democrats (or any other field), would take America in the direction we must go if we are to survive and prosper?  I see none.  Having reached that personal conclusion, I have determined to temper my disagreements with President Trump.  It may be easier for me, since my concerns are relatively few.  I like his pro-Christian actions.  I like his pro-life actions.  I agree with his significant reductions in rules and regulations that hamstring business.  His international trade negotiations have produced positive results, in my opinion.

I haven’t agreed with his decision to pull out of Syria.  Still, as I watch the developments along their border, I have come to realize that he is operating with a much better base of information and intel than I could possibly have.  I don’t trust the narrative of the media, which gives the impression on the surface that Trump’ policies are horribly wrong.  In short, I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt for the time being.  I have seen, time after time, predictions of failure, only to see him succeed in the end.  All this does not preclude the possibility of the President being wrong on this issue.  I’m just withholding judgement for the time being.

There was a time when I searched for a ‘perfect’ candidate.  I have evolved.  My perspective has changed.  There was no one I know who was more anti-Trump when he decided to run.  That was then.  This is now.  Now, looking back over his performance in office for this relatively short time, I give him very high marks.  Perfect?  No.  Productive?  Very.

I don’t see anyone else who even comes close.
