A REMINDER FOR OUR PASTORS

“You can’t preach the Word of God truthfully without preaching with courage.”
– The Reverend Dr. John Guest Christ Church Grove Farm in Sewickly, Pennsylvania

Pastors, Election Day is November 2nd. Elections have consequences. Do not fail to remind your church members to get involved, to educate themselves on the candidates and the issues they will decide on 11/2/2010.

Do not fail to share your pastoral evaluation of the candidates and issues with your church members. It is not just your right to do so; it is your pastoral responsibility.

Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. Merely going to church does nothing to identify anyone as “God’s children,” nor to instill His word in their hearts and minds. Organized religion is first and foremost a business, and has little to do with God’s word.

You mean people are more likely to vote for the candidates and issues they personally believe are of God’s will. The notion fundamentalists votes are more in alignment with God is false. The idea they vote more in accordance with their ideas of what God’s word is is true.

Everyone is equal in the eyes of the Lord, even homosexuals in those pews of yours.

You’re not even making any sense anymore. You are just throwing out words hoping to confuse and redirect thought because your position is indefensible. Of course, going to church doesn’t make you a Christian. Christianity is not a religion or a business, it is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Your personal belief of what is God’s will is merely your twisted justification for your lack of understanding of Holy Scripture and your lack of faith.

        Ed,
Organized Christianity is most certainly first and foremost a business. Churches make lots of money. Pastors draw salaries, have 401K’s, get health insurance and cars. The bigger the “flock,” the bigger the perks for the men of the cloth. Look at the Catholic Church, the flagship of the Christianity. You don’t need one to have a “relationship with Jesus Christ.”

There you go judging and condemning again. I’m not trying to evangelize you, Bob or anyone else. I’m just doing what you and Bob are doing, stating my opinions on religous matters, opinions that cannot be proven by anyone.

Hey! Is it okay if I go a bit off topic? I’m trying to read your domain on my new iPhone but it doesn’t display properly, any suggestions? Cheers! Harriette

Sorry Harriette, I really don’t know what to suggest. Perhaps someone visiting the site will help.

    Ed,
There are plenty of Democrats in them thar pews, and liberals and Independents too. Does the GOP really still think it’s the “God party?” If so, how un-Christ like.

God doesn’t belong to any political party. So have it men and women of the cloth!

I so hope that there are plenty of Democrats and Independents in those pews. Righteousness does not belong to a political party but to the hearts and minds of God’s children. If those D’s and I’s and R’s are reminded of their responsibility to the Kingdom of God by our pastors, they are more likely to vote for the candidates and issues that are of God’s will.
