Obama found his way to the presence of the White House Press Corp (that’s pronounced “core.” Mr. President) to use his bully pulpit and expose his affinity for the white hot lights once again. His message was about the status of efforts to forge a “compromise” with Congress on the debt limit and deficit reduction talks.
The edict of the day from the president: (Let’s) “do it now — pull off the Band-Aid; eat our peas. Now is the time to do it. If not now, when?”
The problem is that when we “pull off the Band-Aid” the president’s definition of “compromise” is to do it his way which continues and worsens the bleeding of jobs. Peas may be what we can afford under Obama’s borrow-and-spend-more-now-and-tax-them-later plan. It’s a lose-lose proposition. He wants a credit line increase on our childrens credit card to continue the wanton spending of the most fiscally irresponsible administration in history while increasing the tax burden on the very entrepreneurs and small busineses that create most of the jobs.
Why should we do it his way? Because he believes he is smarter than virtually every economist and all of us who must balance our budgets or suffer the consequences.
Stand firm, Congressional Conservatives. Do not raise the debt limit and force the “great minds” of the administration to balance the budget with what they have. Default is not necessary.
Manage the considerable assets and income of the federal government to avoid default. Empower the capitalist engine with tax reform and less government regulation and interference. Jobs will be created, revenues will increase.
Perhaps we can have some steak with our peas.
