We continue to read and hear of the schism in the Republican Party between the Tea Party activists and the established Republican leadership, but there is trouble in the Democrat Party as liberals against Barack Obama in 2012 have emerged
Progressive liberal Democrats are seething in the background as the campaign season begins, some even calling for a primary challenger to step forward.
In addition to the fact that after 31 months of his tenure Obama has not made any progress toward the reduction of unemployment rate, some Democrats are listing the disappointments in his accomplishments and that he has failed to live up to his campaign promises to them.
They cite:
1. Obama promised that he would filibuster any law that gave retroactive immunity to telecommunications corporations. But even before his inauguration Senator Barack Obama voted AGAINST the filibuster, and FOR the FISA Amendments Act.
2. Obama promised that he would oppose tax cuts for the rich. But he then he helped the Republicans pass tax cuts for billionaires!
3. Obama has agreed to consider massive cuts to Medicare and Social Security – just what the Republicans want, and what Democratic voters don’t want.
4. Obama promised to oppose offshore oil drilling. But he will support oil drilling as a “compromise.”
5. Obama promised to restore our constitutional freedoms. But he has continued George W. Bush’s system of big government spying, White House secrecy, and suspension of habeas corpus.
6. Obama promised an end to trickle-down economics. But he gave huge bailouts to Wall Street financial firms.
The list goes on and on.
Naturally, we don’t hear of this liberal opposition to Obama in the mainstream media. We only hear of the conflict in the Republican Party. But it is obvious that with Obama’s current approval numbers there is even widespread discontent within his own party.
While the progressives, liberals and socialists will never vote for a conservative or even a RINO Republican, they might just stay home on Election Day 2012. Liberals that oppose Obama may well be Obama’s biggest obstacle to re-election.
