According to www.usdebtclock.org South Dakota has about 20,000 people unemployed. Nearly 100,000 are food stamp recipients. Spending is increasing at a faster pace than revenue. Each of South Dakota’s nearly 800,000 people owe over $8,300.00.
Will the next Governor and Legislature continue to spend more money and propose more taxes? Probably. Will they continue to add more regulations that cost businesses and loose jobs? Probably.
How can we survive the economic turmoil our country is in? We can start by demanding that our elected officials STOP spending more money, increasing our taxes and crippling business with more regulations. If they don’t listen, we will need to be prepared to replace them with men and women who understand the way out of this meltdown is REDUCING state spending, DECREASING taxes and REMOVING regulation.
Right now, we still have the opportunity to choose SOME candidates who will help turn us in the right direction. It is unfortunate that we don’t yet have ENOUGH candidates who really get it, but let’s be certain to elect those who do!!
