There seems to be no end to the creativity of South Dakota politicians when it comes to increasing taxes.
One of the latest is a $5 Million dollar increase (per year) in taxes to property owners.
Governor Daugaard has proposed to put this additional tax burden on property owners to fund an increase of money flowing to schools in the state.

Add this to the $100 Million dollar tax increase (per year) being proposed by a SD Legislative committee, and you begin to see what will undoubtedly be only the first of more tax proposals to come during the next few weeks. www.rightsidesd.com/?p=19326
Bear in mind, these tax increases are being proposed by REPUBLICANS. Many of these tax increases will be called by other names, like “fees”, “revenue enhancements” and “equalization”… who knows what creative new terms we may see. Make no mistake, they are tax increases. Also, make no mistake that ANY and EVERY tax increase that passes in South Dakota will be brought to you by REPUBLICANS, who are in absolute control of the State political machine. They OWN the House, the Senate and the Governor’s office. Just for the record, let me say that there are a few solid conservatives in the State Legislature. We can be thankful for that. They are remarkable and dedicated public servants. Unfortunately, they seem to be outnumbered.
