Should Muslims be allowed to occupy public office in America?
The very question itself will bring accusations of racism, bigotry and prejudice. I can handle that. Before you answer, though, you might want to consider some facts and look at some recent events.
One of the Muslim attackers in Garland, Texas has ties to the Congressional district of Rep. Keith Ellison(D), the first Muslim to hold office in the US House of Representatives. You may remember Ellison as the Congressman who infamously took his oath of office on the Koran rather than the Bible. His district in Minneapolis, Minn., is home to one of the largest Somali/Muslim communities in the entire world. It shouldn’t be surprising, then, that he would be a staunch advocate for Muslim issues and a strong opponent of those who work to expose the threat of radical Islam.
The terrorist connection to Ellsion’s district is exposed in an article published at Breitbart News, authored by Lee Stranahan.
Ellsion has strongly opposed restriction that would limit Americans sending money to Somalia. His argument has largely been humanitarian based, but given his district composition and the connection to terrorism, one might have reason to question his position.
While our current president claims to be a Christian, many have questioned his ties to Islam and what many see as his pro Muslim agenda. His assertion that “America is not a Christian nation” paints a picture of his perspective.
At a time when radical Islam openly screams “death to America”, and most Muslims are noticeably silent when it comes to condemning that agenda, can our country really afford to trust Muslim-Americans with the sacred responsibility of preserving and protecting our freedom and Christian heritage?
I, for one, need to have some reassurance.
