“Christians should quit fighting battles that are over.”
That is the assertion from many who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
They would have born-again Christians yield to the unholy dictates of the Supreme Court such as same sex marriage and Roe v Wade. They would also have believers accept the “political correctness” of tolerance and acceptance. They couldn’t be much more misdirected.
When a sinner (that’s all of us) becomes born-again, everything changes. Until a sinner is born-again, they are blinded, and lost in the darkness and acceptance of sin. The world does not understand, neither can it understand because genuine enlightenment is a result of salvation (being born-again). In John 3:1-21, Jesus explained this mystery to Nicodemus.
Jesus never suggested that His followers should tolerate wickedness. The Bible clearly tells believers to submit themselves to God and RESIST the devil (James 4:7). Our command is to LOVE the sinner, but HATE (and resist) the sin.
One of the favorite weapons unbelievers use is that believers “should not judge”. Actually, believers MUST judge. They must judge between sin and righteousness. The judgment of the sinner will ultimately be up to God, but in this world, calling sin what it is… sin… is a responsibility of believers. Accepting sinful behavior is NOT a Christian responsibility.
Those who would suggest that Christians should “give up the fight” should consider reading the Bible. They would discover that the battle is not over until God says it’s over. He has not said the battle is over. What He has said is that the battle is WON. Jesus fought the battle for us.
Why should we quit, when we have already WON?
