Speaker Paul Ryan has a new spending bill.

It’s over 2,000 pages long, and members are scheduled to vote this week..

What does it fund?  Among many things that should bother conservatives, is the funding of Planned Parenthood.  It is nearly unbelievable that anyone could support continued funding for this abortion provider.

This bill increases spending, which in itself should cause Republicans to revolt.  Beyond that, however, there is MUCH more to dislike.  If this is what we can expect from the new Republican Speaker of the House, and Congressional Republicans, it will confirm what many have been saying a along… nothing has really changed.

The good news (?) that we are supposed to accept is that this will avoid a “government shutdown”.  What that means is that Republican leaders do not have enough backbone to stand on principle, for fear of repercussions in the next election.  It is, after all, not about what is good for America.  It is about what is “good” for the next election.
