SD Republican Party… Moving Left?

Conservatives are unhappy with the Republican Party.

Image result for republicans moving left

What will happen when one fourth to one third of the party (Conservatives in the SD Republican Party) are disenfranchised, unhappy and dismissed as  “professional dissenters”?  It can’t be a good thing for the party.  As the Republican Party continues it’s march to the Left, the objections from the Right become louder.  A few Conservatives are speaking out…

Senator Stace Nelson had this to say about the recent Republican State Convention:

“Efforts by moderate Republicans to remove mention of God & “Judeo Christian beliefs,” and that marriage is between a man and women from the platform, were defeated; however, “life begins at conception” was removed from the platform and conservative Republicans had to fight twice to get it added back to the final Republican platform.
The last day of the convention started off with two Rapid City area delegates being expelled for engaging in a physical altercation.”

Senator Nelson was nominated for Lt. Governor from the Convention floor, after unsuccessful attempts by the Establishment to quickly close nominations with no opportunity for nominations by Conservatives.  Even though Nelson did not run for the nomination, and it was a spontaneous effort by delegates, he received nearly 25% of the vote.  That isn’t insignificant.

Former Legislator Lora Hubbel, who is frequently maligned by the Establishment, doesn’t mince words.  Her rhetoric can be sharp at times, but she does her homework.  Voters genuinely interested in the facts behind the façade should listen to what she is saying.

“The scandal-ridden SD Republican Party is losing its conservatives to the Constitution Party. In 2010 there was a push to register Republicans no matter what they believed, “As long as we can put an “R” by their name”, I heard Justin Rollins say at the Sioux Falls Republican Headquarters.

Prior to that in 2007, Republican Governor(s) Rounds and Daugaard, working with OBamaCare Architect, Tom Daschle, brought bills for the Individual Mandate and a HealthCare Insurance Exchange. We did not know those terms back them, but now we recognize them as pillars of ObamaCAre, the federal takeover of healthcare. These men also promoted Common Core, the federal takeover of Education….even though they deceptively campaigned against both.

These progressive Republicans led South Dakota through several scandals, including EB5 and Gear UP. But we only know about these because of the mysterious deaths that occurred. How many other scandals are taking place that we do not know about? Several deaths have emanated from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED), yet is has never been forensically audited. FOIAs remain unanswered, autopsies closed, entire fire departments told to stand down and shut up….yet SD keeps putting “Republicans” in charge.”

Longtime Republican and activist, Janette McIntyre had these parting words as she left the Republican Party:

“Those who truly represent the people and not the tax and spend mentality are becoming fewer and fewer.   Those who want to tax voters into oblivion have a way of justifying it with a “Government knows best” arrogant attitude.   The people are being ignored.

In my personal case, the party didn’t just leave me it worked against me. The Governor and others supported with donations and endorsements candidates not recognized as conservative and were successful in defeating many of them.”

The Establishment works very hard at dismissing these, and others as Right Wing Nuts and Radicals.  They might want to start paying attention.  Conservatives will only tolerate so much Leftist infiltration before they simply find another home.

That doesn’t bode well for the Republican Party.

The “Draft Dan Kaiser FB page” was changed to Stacey Nelson on the Wednesday before the convention by Nelson himself. There was nothing spontaneous about it. And it wasn’t 25% and from what I’ve heard, that was not representative of the whole state because rumor has it there was a concerted effort to get far-right delegates this election. Tired of the rhetoric. Primary and convention are over. Time to decide whether one is behind the Republican ticket or not. Any campaigning against Republicans at this point is campaigning FOR the Dems. Each person has to have that realization and decide. If the choice is the latter, one is in the minority and should then leave the party and become a Dem or Libertarian or something else if they’re so upset.

These two comments by an obviously left-leaning political activist/operative will be the last ones I publish… UNLESS you have enough spine to use your name so you are identifiable and accountable. You don’t get to promote misinformation, and hide in the shadows. Sorry, no more “anonymous” grenades on this site.

When you have the ultra-right calling the highest conservative voting legislator, Larry Rhoden, when their ratings are lower than his, how can you trust what they say?? See the ratings here by an independent, national conservative organization, American Conservative Union. They produce these scorecards for all 50 states so the we can be informed but some just like to publish their own slanted scorecards. So much for integrity and honesty. This is the response I received from the Deputy Director in Alexandria, VA. Be sure to read his letter which shows their process and intent of the publication:

We produce annual legislative scorecards for all 50 states and all 7,400 legislators.

Here is our South Dakota legislative scorecard:

And here is the link where you can view all our other state scorecards as well as Congress: http://acuratings.conservative.org/

“All politics are local”, a statement made by former Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill. The best, most accurate evaluation of any politician is made by an examination of the most complete record of votes on issues important to state constituents. The CFL scorecard went to great pains to include extensive research on voting records of Legislators… much more so than the national organizations which are not well-informed on local and state issues. Look for yourself at the votes they researched. http://www.rightsidesd.com/?p=32891
An attempt to malign and dismiss one fourth to one third of the South Dakota Republicans as “ultra-right”, reveals a moderate to left leaning perspective.

Informed, your legitimacy goes to exactly zero when you start off your statements by calling honest, reasonable, true Conservatives names. We are simply Conservatives which is far from ultra anything. How would you like us to call all the members of the moderate to liberal leaning SD Republican Establishment “Ultra Socialists”, doesn’t sound very nice does it?

Most South Dakotans don’t really trust information emanating from Washington DC based organizations like the American Conservative Union. There is something seriously wrong with the ACU “scorecard” for the SD legislature — either the methodology is seriously flawed, or they neglected to take into account committee votes, or it is politically biased to support liberal/moderate Republicans (former Democrats) or a combination of all three.

Here’s the true voting record of every member of the current South Dakota legislature:

Rhoden is a liberal former Democrat and simply does not deserve the support of Republicans. Further, Noem is moderate to leftward leaning and needed a strong Conservative to round out the ticket but chose a liberal Democrat. Noem is also not deserving of the support of Republicans.

When you have a scorecard that isn’t authored primarily by the legislator who gee, happens to be the highest scoring, please publish it. Until then, I’ll take my information from an unbiased source. And any ‘liberal’ or ‘Democrat’ wouldn’t do well on any conservative scorecard; not even the ACU’s.

I doubt that election victories by “third parties” are very many years away. The NPA and independent voter registrations are climbing.
