I was amused by this recent quote…

“either Governor Daugaard runs the party or Gordon Howie does.”

Have we really come so far that we have forgotten this is a government Of the people BY the people and FOR the people?

Have we arrived at the place where, to quote a certain South Dakota Representative, the Governor is the “supreme being” in our state?

Let’s hope not!!  Even though that is how it may seem, given the arrogance of the Republican leadership and the current administration.  Still, this is NOT a contest between Dennis Daugaard and Gordon Howie.  It’s a struggle between Dennis Daugaard and the PEOPLE of South Dakota.

I would suggest a much better way to phrase the question at hand would be….

Does Governor Daugaard run the party… or do the PEOPLE run the party?

When political leaders try to ride rough shod over the electorate, an uprising is sure to take place among freedom minded Americans.  South Dakota is no exception.

The fact that someone would raise the question demonstrates the existence of the problem.  Rank and file members of the Republican Party have been ignored, berated and excluded.  Top down dictatorial politics has become the order of the day, most recently revealed by the endorsement of candidates who openly support abortion, gay rights and other positions directly in conflict with the party platform.

Is it any wonder there is a groundswell of opposition?

It may be true… for the moment, that Governor Daugaard and his leadership team “run the party”.  Many believe that is going to change, and once again the PEOPLE will run the party!
