If you haven’t filed a document at the court-house for a while you are in for a little surprise.
While Republican leaders and our Governor in South Dakota were telling you they balanced the budget without raising our taxes, the tax-fairy paid us a visit in the dark of night!
Your cost of filing a deed, mortgage or satisfaction of mortgage has TRIPLED!
It’s only one of many examples of how “conservatives” in South Dakota have continued to expand government’s reach into your pocket while telling you they are not increasing taxes. This political “double-speak” has become the new norm in America. It’s not just in DC or Chicago any more… it’s in good old South Dakota, in the Republican party.
I probably won’t lose any sleep over the fact that my fees to close one real estate deal have been tripled. Life goes on.
I am bothered, however, that tax increases of a hundred million dollars per year have been given to us by Republican leadership. It is even MORE troubling that they simply did not tell us the truth. It’s not just that they DIDN”T tell us. They did tell us something that was clearly not true. That should bother us all.
There are still a few good men and women in state government. Unfortunately, there are many others who seem to have a problem or two.
Raising our taxes by $100 million dollars a year and then lying about it is part of a patern of abuse of power that needs to be removed from our state government.
In case you have forgotten… or didn’t know how Legislators scored on faith, family and FISCAL issues, you might want to review the scorecard before you vote in November. Of particular interest are the tax increase bills… HB1192, HB1248 and SB89. They are examples of how Republicans “didn’t” raise your taxes. SEE SCORECARD HERE
Republican leaders and the Governor are also telling us they DO NOT support Obama Care. Why should we believe them on that issue if they have lied to us about taxes? The answer: We shouldn’t!! When given the opportunity to vote AGAINST Obama Care, they voted different than their rhetoric. Even more puzzling is the fact that the vote is not recorded anywhere on the Legislative Research Council website. How convenient!
