Some Governors, like South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, have joined President Obama in removing parental control from the education of their children.
While Governor Daugaard is continuing his implementation and support for Common Core, Obama’s education plan, the Heritage Foundation has issued a report showing some of the reasons why it is BAD for education, kids and parents. The Heritage Foundation is a well-respected conservative organization. By running afoul of the Heritage Foundation, Daugaard has chosen another path in direct conflict with conservative values.
According to the report, Common Core is a step backwards for English standards, and will create extra costs for education at a time when school boards are already struggling to find the money to keep schools running.
Most conservatives, and growing numbers of moderates… even liberals are unhappy with the Obama administration on many issues. This report says “Parents, teachers, and education leaders along the political spectrum are increasingly raising questions about the constitutionality and transparency…” .
The Heritage Foundation isn’t the only organization against Common Core. Daugaard is also ignoring his own party’s platform, which specifically addresses and rejects the Common Core objectives.
Why, then, is Daugaard in lock step with Obama on Common Core?
It’s a question he needs to answer.
It is one of SEVERAL reasons that has stirred support for a challenge to Governor Daugaard in the 2014 election. His betrayal of conservative principles by supporting Common Core is one of the most serious issues directly affecting South Dakota.
Daugaard doesn’t get a pass on this issue. He will have at least ONE challenger in the 2014 primary election.

I would work/contribute to his primary challenger, and if the challenger looses, I will vote 3rd party, if there is one.
That’s encouraging to hear! …..there may be one (third party candidate)
