Perhaps those who believe that Benghazi is a phony scandal or needs no further investigation can answer the questions asked by Gowdy that the press can’t.
As the White House and top Democrats remind us, there have been multiple Congressional committees investigating Benghazi and it is “old news”. We indeed need to be “moving on”. I remember so well the stonewalling of the Nixon administration and how much they would have liked us to simply move on to the many more important issues of the day. Does the volume of material provided to the committees provide a true measure of cooperation and transparency? Is the time elapsed the most important criterion? One of the most relevant emails was finally procured only by time-consuming court order rather than given voluntarily. It seems to have taken an inordinate amount of time to furnish requested documents. Is that to make sure that the material is “safe”? Are redacting, withholding, and classifying documents and withholding witnesses the keys to cooperation and transparency? Would each of these slow down and investigation? We each get to decide.
