Today, everyone claims to be a Reagan conservative.
Unfortunately, many who make that claim do it for political gain rather than from personal conviction. There are many names for these Republicans-In-Name-Only.
Whatever you may call them, Ronald Reagan had a message for them, and about them…
“We don’t intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all.” – Ronald Reagan, Nov. 10, 1964

In today’s political climate, Reagan would be considered a RINO, until republicans figure this out and vote accordingly, nothing changes. The radical right has taken over the party, leaving no place for normal republicans like me.
That is an interesting spin, but sorry… not buying that. What moderates want to call “radical” is what Reagan supported… traditional family values, less government control and fiscal responsibility. Those in control of the party have continued to move it to the left, and now want to justify their positions by calling conservatives “wacko-birds” and “radicals”.
Tim, I worked for Reagan, and no, he would not be considered a RINO. Nice try, though. That is a favorite line used by liberals in both parties. He was the radical right, and the RINOs are the ones who fought him every step of the way.
