$ 18 Trillion dollar debt, uncontrolled spending, rising taxes, government control of education and health care…

They all sound like big problems, right?  Well, they certainly are. But not the REAL problem.

It seems like the cycle of crisis is spinning out of control.  Every few days there is some new MAJOR crisis.  It is as if someone is intentionally creating them in an effort to divert our attention from the real issue.

We just elected a Republican majority in the House and the Senate, expecting them to “fix” Washington.  It’s what they promised to do.

They won’t.

UNLESS… they focus on the real problem.  I personally don’t think they will fix the real problem, because they don’t see the real problem.

Our Founding Fathers knew that this nation could not survive if its people were not committed first to the principles of faith in God through Jesus Christ.  They understood that our form of government was divinely inspired and would not survive without embracing “in God we trust” in practice, not just with lip service.

A nation that kills its own children is destined to fall.  For years… decades… we have legislated restrictions on abortions.  Still, we kill our children every day in America.  Even that, as horrific as it is, is not the REAL problem.  The real problem is that America has turned her back on the God who gave us our freedom from tyranny.  History demonstrates that when man turns his back on God, he is delivered into bondage.

The REAL problem is a heart problem.  We have become lovers of self more than lovers of God.

Check your history.  Bob Dylan had it right when he sang “You have to SERVE somebody.  It may be the devil or it may be the Lord…”

The smartest politicians, Republican or Democrat can’t solve our problems.  The best they can do is commit themselves to the God of the universe and point America in the right direction.  We aren’t smart enough to save our economy without God’s help.  We can’t protect our nation from terrorism without God’s help.

As the crisis continues to grow worse, my prayer is that America will see the futility of our own “solutions” and return to her first love.

America’s only hope is God.
