That is actually code for “I support raising your taxes and spending more money”.
More tax increases are being proposed. Not just little increases. Not just by Democrats. Not just in Washington DC.
Some of these taxes are called “fees”. Not all of them, though. Some politicians are brave enough to actually use the words “tax increase”. Others, who can’t muster up as much honesty will say they are opposed to “tax increases”, but favor “closing tax loopholes.”
Let’s be clear. A “tax loophole” is a legitimate way to reduce or eliminate a tax. Removing it is a tax INCREASE.
Not all “tax loopholes” are deemed good for everyone. OK, so for every “tax loophole” that is eliminated, a corresponding amount of dollars should be REDUCED in another area of taxation. Otherwise, “closing tax loopholes” is nothing more than a creative way to increase taxes and spend more money. Government does not need more money. Taxpayers need tax relief.
Republicans who insist they oppose tax increases, but support “closing tax loopholes” are simply playing a game. In recent days, I have heard politicians on a national and state level use this line. It’s time for straight talk from political leaders.
Here is an example of “straight talk”…
Any politician who says they are opposed to tax increases, but willing to “close tax loopholes” (without corresponding tax reductions) is not telling you the truth. They want to raise taxes and increase government spending.
