Republicans have a strong, principled platform on which to stand.
Unfortunately, they are unwilling to step anywhere near it, choosing instead to abandon platform principles at every opportunity. They are afraid of their own shadow. Fearful that they will be “blamed”, accused or somehow maligned for doing the right thing.
The Congress could have taken action BEFORE the FCC passed the new rules to control the internet (Net neutrality), but wilted under the potential of pressure. Make no mistake, this didn’t just sneak up on Republicans. They have known it was coming… at least for months, and did nothing.
South Dakota’s senior Senator, John Thune, had this to say: “The Democrats have been pushed away from negotiating with us.” Really… so Republican action on anything is now contingent on Democrats not being “pushed away from dealing”? Who controls both houses of Congress? Obviously, it still isn’t the Republicans, even though they have sufficient votes.
“We still have a little window to do something legislative,” Thune said, “but I think the incentive for Democrats start to diminish significantly once the FCC rules.” Why then, did Republicans not take action? Simply because they were “fearful”. They were predicting failure. Thune continues.. “even though the GOP holds majorities in both chambers, it made little sense to take up legislation now because without some Democratic cooperation, the bill would fail in the Senate or if it passes, Obama would veto it.” Seriously??? If you can’t guarantee an outcome, you run from principle and abandon efforts to do what you know is right to begin with? Apparently.
Remember, Thune is in a significant leadership role in the Senate. He doesn’t just speak for himself, he represents the majority of Republicans when he speaks. This is the same Republican leadership who promised to “save us” from Harry Reid. Little has changed since they “saved us”.
Should we be surprised? Not really. This is the SAME Republican leadership who just refused to defend 5 month old unborn children. What, in the name of Almighty God WILL these people stand for? The answer seems obvious… their own re-election and self preservation.
But, fear not America. The Republicans control Congress. Indeed.
Fear for your country. Fear for your freedom.

This bunch of feckless chickens couldn’t legislate their way out of a wet paper bag. You can’t LEAD while you’re hunkered down in a bunker with your tail between your legs. Leadership means heading out in the right direction with enough confidence and conviction that those on your side will follow, cover your six and fight with you. If they’re always worried about what liberals will say about them, they’ll never accomplish anything.
