Unfortunately, they were in the minority.
$90 million dollars in NEW tax increases were approved by the South Dakota Legislature and signed by the Governor, with the passage of SB 1.
Out of 105 Legislators, 20 stood strong for fiscal restraint. Even though they (and we) lost this battle, we should take time to express our gratitude to those 20 who refused to go along with a $90 Million dollar (per year) tax increase.
This tax increase includes a six cents per gallon gas tax hike and a 20% increase license plate fees.
Thank you for your commitment to fiscal responsibility and holding the line on taxes!
