South Dakota’s Attorney General says he isn’t doing anything on the alleged Hickey petition violations…
Because he “doesn’t have a complaint.”
That is his response from June 18th. Really??? Here is a copy of a a complaint sent to him on JUNE 4th.
There seems to be a pattern developing here with regard to “misinformation” coming from the Attorney General. Maybe his dog ate the complaint. Maybe not.
I am not suggesting (or hoping) that Hickey is deserving of felony prosecution, even though the alleged violations are exactly the violations for which Jackly prosecuted Bosworth. NEITHER of these violations rise to the level of felonies.
What is very interesting is the significantly different way the Attorney General is treating this complaint. It demonstrates the level of integrity the AG has (or does not have) in the dispensation of “justice”, and makes it clear to onlookers that he has abused his power in the over-prosecution of Bosworth while ignoring violations by other people.
Even the Secretary of States office handled the Bosworth complaint differently. That office FORWARDED the Bosworth complaint to the AG, who dispatched a small army of “investigators” to interrogate petition signers. The Hickey complaint is being treated quite differently. The Secretary of State “responded” to the complainant, as follows, rather than forwarding it to the AG:
Now, the Attorney General “Doesn’t have a complaint” on the Hickey petitions. Sorry Marty, one was sent to you weeks ago. You can expect another one via Certified Mail soon. This one will require a signature acknowledging receipt from you, or perhaps your dog.
It’s time for Marty Jackley to restore integrity to the election process… and his office.

Jackley and Daugaard have used their office to go after political opponents and protect their cronies.
This is disgusting.
Seems like an obvious double-standard…
According to our SD Constitution, Hickey MUST be treated the same way. Look at SD Bill of Rights,
Article 6 § 18.
Equal privileges or immunities. No law shall be passed granting to any citizen, class of citizens or corporation, privileges or immunities which upon the same terms shall not equally belong to all citizens or corporations.
If they don’t want to charge Hickey with a felony…they better not charge Bosworth for doing the same thing. But it’s not really the same thing, Hickey was an established Politian who knew better.
Thanks for being our watchdog.
