Trump Doesn’t Represent Republican Party

That statement from Jeb Bush might be ONE thing he got right.

Bush and many other Republican Presidential candidates are busy pandering to every group they can imagine, in hopes of winning the nomination and then the White House.  But what do you really win if you sell out every principle along the way?

I’m not a Trump fan, but what he said needed to be said.  It’s true.

“The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best…. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us.  They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” he said, adding, “And some, I assume, are good people.”

Trump may be vulgar, arrogant and self-serving, but he deserves credit for being brash enough to deliver the plain truth about illegal immigration.  He has also said that he would build a wall on the Mexico-American border.

Jeb Bush, however, has got it right when he says Trump “doesn’t represent the Republican Party”.  Few Republicans aspiring to the White House are brave enough to be honest with America or take a position on immigration that might “offend” or alienate Latino voters.  If Latino voters can’t handle the truth, let them be “offended”.  If a candidate can’t handle the truth, they certainly don’t deserve to be President.

Candidates lined up to say the Trump comments were “Ugly, Inflammatory, Offensive and Divisive”.  Even some whom I have pondered supporting were quick to disparage Trump for his comments.  To his credit, Ted Cruz was bold enough to deal effectively with the issue by saying, “I salute Donald Trump for focusing on the need to address illegal immigration.”  He added that, “Trump has a colorful way of speaking, which is not the way I speak.”

Here’s the problem.  Jeb Bush and others who are willing to pander for Latino votes by compromising on illegal immigration are revealing their political character.  They will sell out on other issues as well, if it costs them politically.  It’s why they are noticeable silent on social issues such as homosexuality and abortion.

Unfortunately, Jeb Bush is right.  Trump doesn’t represent the Republican party on immigration.  Even Ronald Reagan, who spoke strongly about protecting our borders, did little or nothing to actually do so.  It seems that the political cost of taking a pro-American position on this issue is just too high.

If Republicans have any hopes of winning the White House and actually restoring American greatness, they better find the courage to nominate a candidate who will not compromise on principle.

If Republicans abandon principle in order to win, America will loose, once again.

Compared to all the other candidates, I would vote for him because he does not pander to the party elite. It’s time for an anti-establishment candidate.

I completely agree. There’s no way I’d vote for Trump (too liberal in too many areas), but at least he told the truth about illegal immigration.
