For sometime I have called on all of we who call ourselves Christian to boldly stand up for our faith.
I am reminded of that in Psalm 11:1 where David questions anyone who would encourage him to flee from a dire circumstance. David put his trust in the Lord (as should we) and was unafraid.
The movies have made a hero of a fictional character called Captain America who used a shield to defend and protect America and in Psalm 7:10 we are told of another shield which is God Who provides us protection and courage far greater than any imaginary hero.
The benefits of having God as our shield by trusting in Him as David did are many as Psalm informs us including joy (Ps. 5:11) and not sadness over what confronts us as we can be assured that trust will not return empty but out of it will come our deliverance (Ps. 22:4) as the nation of Israel discovered.
I believe with trust will also come triumph (Ps. 25:1). There are days I look around myself and see evil run rampant and wonder how it will all turn out and then I realize that God is always near as long as I speak out truth (Ps. 145:18) in all situations.
I know this because God desires goodness for me (Ps. 31:19) and His mercy will cover me (Ps. 32:10). If there is some good that can be gained from any situation our speaking out and our trust in God assure’s us that it will be realized. I am reminded of that time and again when I see apparent evil yet something positive comes from it.
The key is to remain firm in that trust and we will be blessed (Ps.40:4) irregardless of the outcome as we go forward fearing nothing (Ps. 56:11).
We must all intend to be useful to God our Creator as Ps. 73:28 puts it declaring God’s works unashamedly. Carry God’s Word with you knowing He will direct our path (Proverbs 3:5-6). We do not now or ever need to RUN AND HIDE for God intends us to receive His inheritance set aside for all who trust in Him (Isaiah 58:13).
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Trust in God leads to triumph over trouble.
DEVOTIONAL VERSE FOR TODAY: Psalm 11:1 “courage comes through trust in the Lord”.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord thank you for standing by me.
QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT:
1. In whom or what do you place your trust?
2. Results seen in Scripture when trusting in God?
3. Are you willing to fight for truth?
4. Can you find good in any situation?
