Republicans: Character Doesn’t Matter

One Third of Republican voters don’t think character is important for a President.

Before the polling and the Republican Presidential primary is over, it could get even higher.  Donald Trump is now at 32%.  In a field of more than a dozen candidates (some of whom actually demonstrate strong moral character) nearly one in three are willing to throw character under the bus to support Trump.

Trump has openly referred to the Chinese in a public speech as M***** F***ers and insults AdFiorina by suggesting no one would vote for a woman who “looks like that”.  Trump is undoubtedly the most arrogant in the field.  But Trump isn’t the real problem here.  The problem is with voters who support that kind of a candidate.  Not to mention that Trump doesn’t support most of what the Republican party platform claims is important.  It only demonstrates how far the Republican party has fallen.  It makes them no better than Democrats who continue to support a candidate like Hilary Clinton (whom Trump has supported prior to running himself).

Thankfully, there are still some principled voters in the Republican Party.  The question that remains to be answered is whether Republicans are willing to, once again, sacrifice their principles in order to “win”.

Time will tell.
