America welcomes the Pope today.
That is appropriate. He is an important religious leader.
The crowds and dignitaries clamor to meet the Pope, or maybe just get a glimpse. Hopefully, he will deliver a message that includes the truth that Jesus is the only way to be saved:
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
The Pope has the microphone. He has the opportunity to challenge America to, once again, turn to Jesus. That would be significant, in a country whose President seems intent on promoting Islam and rejecting Christ.
I am anxious to hear the Pope address both Houses of Congress. I hope he chastises them for their unwillingness to end the killing of unborn children, and clearly gives them the Gospel message of Jesus.
It might be a good time to pause and remember that the Pope is a mortal. Even so, he is a mortal who has been chosen to represent the Catholic Church. He is a man who has the opportunity to present Jesus to the nation’s political leaders, as well as the country at large; Political leaders and a country that have rejected Jesus.
The President bowed to Muslim leaders when he met with them. He did not bow to the Pope.
I hope the visit of the Pope brings change in America.
