There is an assault on conservative Christian values.

It comes from the Democrats on the left and the establishment Republicans.  While we battle ObamaCare they hit us with Common Core.  While we are fighting Common Core they hit us with something else.

Yesterday I signed a petition to offer voters an opportunity to rescind a new tax…  A tax brought to us by elected Republicans.  Republicans are elected by espousing conservative principles, only to abandon them as soon as they are in office.

Its not just in national politics.  State and local politics are contaminated with the same virus.  South Dakota politics is dominated by Republicans.  You would think that is a good thing if you are a conservative Republican.  Think again.

Legalized gambling, tax increases by the hundreds of millions, Common Core, ObamaCare, increases in government spending, more regulations and restrictions on free enterprise… all brought to you by “Republicans”.  Rank and file Republicans are predominantly conservative.  They continue to pass a conservative platform.  Then they elect “Republicans” who ignore it.

The “Republicans” that get elected keep the conservatives so busy putting out fires and fighting battles that they have taken their eye off the ball.  The real battle should be replacing the PEOPLE who continue to start the fires in the first place.  There are two kinds of elected “Republicans” who should be replaced.  Those who support policies contrary to the Republican platform and those who are unwilling to put their political career on the line to resist those policies.

Even though the elections of 2016 are not over, there is a growing number of these “Republicans” lining up to fill offices in South Dakota politics in 2018.  While conservatives are busy fighting the battles created by these “Republican” leaders, they are too buy to realize that 2016, and yes, 2018 will deliver even more of the same old “Republicans” unless something significant changes.  The direction of our state and our nation will not change…

Unless we replace the people.
