Maybe it’s time for a change.
When leaders were chosen in Old Testament days, it was done differently. King David comes to mind.
He was dismissed, even by his father. He was the least likely of all the “candidates” when the prophet Samuel came to the house of Jesse to interview his sons. He wasn’t even considered. There were eight sons, seven of whom were presented by Jesse to Samuel for consideration. None of them were chosen, even though they seemed to be the most likely. Samuel had clear instructions about the way he was to find the next King.
the Lord said to Samuel, “ For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
Jesse must have been puzzled as his handsome, strong and capable sons were rejected, one by one. Only then was David summoned to appear before the prophet. God clearly told Samuel, “this is the one.” He was chosen by God because of what was in his heart. He certainly wasn’t perfect, but had a “heart after God”. Even with his human imperfections, he was a great King.
Maybe it is time for America to use a different measure to chose leaders. Maybe we should ask God who He would prefer. No, America doesn’t need a King. We do, however, need a leader with a “heart after God”.
America should let God chose her leaders.

The Argus Leader was called on the carpet for deleting what
i wrote on their web page comments. Gannett agreed they were censoring me and let a copy of what i wrote stand….why do you do the same thing?
Not sure what you are saying here Lora. I don’t recall censoring your comments. Would be happy to discuss it if I have censored something you have written at some point. My moderation process is “whenever I get back in front of my computer, so I might be slow posting comments from time to time. As part of that process, I delete inappropriate comments, etc, but don’t recall anything from you that hasn’t been posted…. maybe I am just too slow. Call me if we should talk about it!!
At one time America DID choose a king. The rallying cry of our founders declared, No Sovereign but GOD and no King but JESUS! Even South Dakota, at one time, declare “Under GOD, the people rule” in fact they so wanted God as the Supreme that they made that phrase our State motto…and it is on every door knob in the capitol buildng.
So what happened? We now have an AG that uses the law to crush one person and will ignore the same law to excuse another…who will declare evidence in a crime as confidential to hide murders.
AND we have a Govenor who helped his choice for SOS to cheat her way to the position…and now no one can look up businesses from the EB5 scandal because it has been scrubbed under her “appointment”.
And yet even when “we the people” know our US delegation votes against us over and over…we pee our pants with delight everytime they are in our presence.
How much farther does South Dakota have to fall before we change our leadership to honest Conservatives? Pierre is no different than DC…..yet we won’t see it.
