Pennington County needs more of your money, right??
WRONG!
The wheel tax which was passed by the County Commission has been referred by citizens to a public vote. That is a very good thing.
Proponents argue that if you drive on the roads or use a bridge, you should pay more taxes.
I respectfully disagree. Here is ONE reason why:
I live off of a county road, Antelope Creek Road. This year during heavy rains, the bridge washed out. That was months ago, and the road is still closed to through traffic. The County plans to replace the bridge. My suggestion that they ELIMINATE the bridge, and install a “Texas crossing” hasn’t peaked any interest. I wrote about it recently. READ IT HERE. The difference in price could be as much as $200,000.00 (maybe more). It is a good example of the way government spends money without regard to economy or practicality.
Vote “No” on the wheel tax.
