This is unsettling.
Yesterday morning I met my two Pastors, Bishop Lorenzo Kelly and Bishop Troy Carr for breakfast. We do that frequently. Nothing new here.
BUT…
While I was waiting, I was doing some work with my cell phone. I needed some technical advise, so I went to the front desk of the hotel where we were meeting. A friend works there, and she is very tech-savvy. I waited to talk with her while she checked in a hotel customer. After she finished, we talked about my technical issue and I went back to the restaurant to meet my Pastors.
What happened next was a big surprise…
As I looked at my facebook account, I was invited to “view other posts”. What was unsettling about it was that it specifically invited me to view the posts of my friend AND the person she was checking in to the hotel. The fact that my phone disclosed was… someone, somewhere, somehow, knew we were all three in the same place at the same time. It identified us by name and disclosed where we were “together”. We had not made any internet or computer contact. I didn’t even know the person checking in to the hotel.
I don’t think someone is shadowing me. I am not that important. What I do find interesting is how invasive technology has become, and how easy it is for someone to know your every move. It’s no big deal… unless someone, say the government uses it to invade my privacy. I will confess, I do not trust the government.
That’s why this is all a bit un-nerving.
