Trump-Cruz Ticket Would Mean No Politically Correct Apologies

trump cruzWe’ve waited for decades to find conservative politicians who won’t back down when politically correct media bullies try to beat them up.  The latest high-profile politician to cave under pressure has been Maine Republican Governor Paul LePage, earlier known for his straight-talking, pull-no-punches defense of saying what needs to be said.

Now LePage joins the likes of Jimmy Swaggart and Paula Deen, whose shameful, blubbering apologies brought them only the charge of cowardice.  Now compare these three to presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, who didn’t back down.

For several months now, Americans have been charmed by Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, both candidates who don’t weigh everything they say against potential loss of money or votes.   We haven’t seen the likes of them for decades.  They have a moral rudder that allows them to shoot back from the hip, as necessary.

Nor is it surprising that neither is an establishment candidate.  They appeal to voters who would rather run the GOP aground than surrender principles just for the sake of winning.  What good, after all, is the difference between a GOP Hillary and a Democratic one?

Trump and Cruz speak to disenfranchised Republicans.  We are lucky to have both of them running at once.  Let them form a ticket.  Either Trump-Cruz or Cruz-Trump.  Both at least won’t back down when media bullies come calling.
