Most Christians oppose legalized gambling.

In South Dakota, there are people and organizations who oppose current legislative attempts to expand gambling.  That’s good.

I can’t help but recall, though, that not so long ago one of these organizations wholeheartedly endorsed, supported and campaigned for a man who could be called the poster child for legalized gambling in South Dakota, M. Michael Rounds.

M. Michael Rounds wholeheartedly supported the gaming industry throughout his political career in South Dakota.  His voting record on the subject is absolutely conclusive.  If there were ever a pro-gambling measure he did not support, I have not yet seen it.

Still, some people who claim moral authority and/or lead organizations were in the tank for Rounds.  They just looked the other way, even though they present themselves as the voice of moral authority.  Now, they are (again) wanting to be the “champions” of the gambling opposition.  They, no doubt believe it is their moral duty to oppose gambling expansion…

As long as it serves their purpose.
