Our protection lies in our right to bear arms.
The 2nd Amendment:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Advocates for gun control should read it. The 2nd Amendment is very clear. “Shall not be infringed” isn’t difficult to understand. But maybe we should take a deeper look into the motivation leading Congress to pass it. Wikipedia identifies several reasons early Americans thought it to be important:
-
facilitating a natural right of self-defense
-
enabling the people to organize a militia system
-
participating in law enforcement
-
suppressing insurrection
-
repelling invasion
-
deterring tyrannical government
Hmmm… does any of this strike you as important in today’s world? If not, go ahead and turn in your guns (if you even have any).
I think I will keep mine, thank you.
