Do you think we should give IRS another Billion Dollars??
That’s what I thought.
President Obama has asked Congress to increase the IRS budget by, yes, a cool Billion dollars.
About half of it would go to “discretionary” and half for “tax enforcement”. If that thought makes you sleep well at night, you obviously work at the IRS.
Even when you make allowances for inflation, the IRS has DOUBLED its budget over the last 30 years. Unfortunately, they have not doubled their credibility or efficiency. After targeting conservatives and Christians, the IRS continues to drag its feet when it comes to implementing reforms. Apparently THEY are comfortable with how they do business. They just need another Billion dollars to do it.
The current IRS budget is around $ 11.5 Billion dollars, pushing it well over $12 Billion if they were to get the requested increase.
The IRS is a poster child for incompetence. The agency represents the arrogance and abuse of power that has caused most Americans to distrust their own government. It is government out of control.
Personally, I like the idea of ELIMINATING the IRS and creating a simple tax that would allow taxpayers to complete their own returns. I also like the idea of trimming government by $12 Billion dollars.
THAT would be a win-win!
