The following legislators stood strong against the Governor’s Sales Tax increase HB1182. The pressure on them from the teachers union, administrators, and the Governor’s people was intense. Teachers were told anyone voting against it was against Education, against Teachers and even against Kids! The Teachers were unaware that there were other plans to use existing funds for education, because those bills and plans were were squashed and suppressed. The Teachers packed the Capitol building. Some schools even brought in busloads of kids. After the 2nd vote, the bill passed by only 1 vote!

You can also let Rep.Scott Craig know how disappointed you are that he switched his vote, to go with the Governor, the 2nd time. Scott’s wife is a teacher; the word is that she was being bullied by her fellow teachers at her school. I don’t know if there is any truth to this, but he did say something to the effect that he was swayed by the hurt feelings of teachers. (Please be polite, if you do email him.) rep.craig@state.sd.us
