Franklin Graham won’t buy Girl Scout Cookies.
He joins a growing number of people who love the little girls, but reject the organization. Like many others, the Girl Scout organization has succumbed to the doctrine of devils… pro abortion and homosexual advocacy.
When a sweet little girl asks me to buy cookies, it’s hard to say no thank you. As hard as it is, that is my response. I simply can’t support an organization that embraces unholy alliances with Planned Parenthood and others, while portraying themselves virtuous as they mold the lives of these little girls.
This week, Franklin Graham decided he has had enough too. On his facebook page, he posted this statement:
The Girl Scouts organization sure isn’t what it used to be! St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson isn’t worried about being politically correct in letting people know about it either. He told church members and scout leaders that the Girl Scouts is wrong in their support of transgender rights and homosexuality and is not aligned with the teachings of his church. The archdiocese also revealed that a Girl Scout troop in Utah was formed specifically to reach out to transgendered youth and that the Girl Scouts celebrated the Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage on its Instagram and Twitter accounts. Archbishop Carlson is exactly right—the “ways of the world” are incompatible with biblical values. More church leaders need his boldness in speaking the truths that set those who follow God’s Word apart from the rest of the world. I don’t know about you, but I won’t be buying any Girl Scout cookies this year.
Graham’s mention of St. Louis Archbishop Robert J. Carlson is a reference to a letter from the Archbishop to Priests. “While Catholics are called to treat all people with compassion and mercy, we must at the same time be mindful of whom we allow to teach and form our youth and the messages they present.” He also said, “Girl Scouts is exhibiting a troubling pattern of behavior and it is clear to me that as they move in the ways of the world it is becoming increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values.”
The Archbishop and Graham both have got it right. We should love the girls, but refuse the cookies.
The Girl Scout organization has lost its way.
