With his Super Tuesday delegates, Trump still has a way to go.

Of the remaining 1,899 delegates, other candidates have to win 941 to force a brokered convention.  At this point in the race, it’s close.  The current count is Trump 285, other candidates 281.

In the field of other candidates, Senator Ted Cruz leads with 161.

As of 8:30 a.m. on 3-2-16, Trump 316, others 365.  Senator Cruz has 226 of the delegates held by “other candidates.” More delegates are now in the column of “other candidates” than in the Trump column.

Trump now needs 921 of the remaining 1,784 delegates.  That actually lowers the number needed by “other candidates” to force a brokered convention to 863.

If nothing changes, Trump could win before the convention.  It wouldn’t take much, though, to tip the scales enough for a brokered convention.  At present, the media is predicting that Trump is unstoppable.  Admittedly, he does have a head of steam going in to the next round of primaries.  That could change.

Anti-Trump forces have begun to build a “stop Trump” plan that includes dumping tens of millions of dollars into presumably negative campaigning.  Until very recently, Trump has simply been given a pass on everything from his tax returns to his support for Planned Parenthood.  He has trashed everyone who has challenged him on anything of substance.  Nearly all of his negative tirades have gone unanswered… until now.

Some suggest that any effort to stop Trump will be “too little, too late”.  We will soon see.

Despite the fact that a crowded field favors Trump, things are changing… fast.

We will soon see if Trump can survive a big dose of his own medicine.
