Ronald Reagan explained liberals when he said…
“It isn’t so much that liberals are ignorant. It’s just that they know so many things that aren’t so.”
What Reagan had to say about liberals could now easily be said about many Republicans as well. They just “know” so many things that are not true. That explains a lot. It’s why we have local, state and national Republican leaders who continue to increase government spending and control, grow the national debt, raise our taxes and embrace principles and policies that are bad for America.
Republican candidates running for office frequently claim to be conservative. They use terms like “common sense” to sell themselves to voters who aren’t interested or intellectually curious enough to examine actual records and positions of candidates. They like the sound and look. Make no mistake, “Hope and Change” sells well in political contests because voters BELIEVE what they CHOOSE to believe rather than what is true. Self-serving organizations and media perpetuate the masquerade by presenting only the information that advances their individual agendas.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone who is familiar with Scripture. 2 Timothy 3 describes it this way:
“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
We would do well to review the few verses preceding this one as well.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
We could use a serious dose of “TRUTH”.
