Fired Congresswoman may run again

By Ed Randazzo

In the state of South Dakota where even Democrats want to be known as Republicans, Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin said this week that she is considering running again for the US House seat from which she was recently fired by the people.

Mrs. Sandlin is being encouraged to run again despite her loss, no doubt due to the lack of other viable Democratic candidates. She has apparently been traveling considerably and making the rounds of legal/lobbyist firms including one in Washington, DC. She is prohibited from lobbying activities for one year after her leaving office but can advise legal/lobbying firms in the interim.

Herseth-Sandlin seems much more at home in the Beltway than in South Dakota and especially in West River, so I doubt she will run for the US House seat again.

Where is Stephanie spending her time now? Is she actually living in our state? Who is taking care of that cute little toddler that was in her campaign ads? Or is her so-called concern for the state of South Dakota just some form of ambition driven astroturf? Inquiring minds want to know?

Time for an Independent to take over. How about this for a campaign slogan: “Fire Noem, we already did Herseth, hire an Independent.” The GOP and Dems have made a mess of things in this country.
